This online utility lets you slow down a GIF animation. You can make a GIF go two or three times slower, or you can enter a custom slow-down factor (in percentage). You can use the autoplay option to view the original and slowed down GIF animations at the same time side-by-side and compare their framerates. Additionally, you can apply a gradual fade-out-like slow-down effect to the animation. Created by GIF experts from team Browserling.

This is a browser-based program that makes an animated GIF file go slower. It increases the delays between frames so that they are displayed on the screen for a longer time period. By increasing the frame delays, the duration of animation also increases but the framerate decreases. All actions and events in a GIF become slow-motion that makes it easy to see the smallest changes between frames. The program is equipped with two quick deceleration modes and a custom deceleration mode. The "Make a GIF 2x Slower" radio button, as its title suggests, decreases the original framerate by 50%. For example, if a frame is displayed on the screen for 200ms, then with this mode it will be displayed for 400ms. The total length of a GIF will increase by 2x as well. The "Make a GIF 3x Slower" radio button, decreases the framerate by 33.33%. In this case, a 200ms delay will turn into a 600ms delay. In this mode, the total GIF play time will increase by 3x. By using the custom slow-down mode, you can enter a custom frame deceleration percentage. For example, if you enter 10%, then the GIF in the output will play at 10% of its original speed (and the total slow-down will be 90%). By default, the input and output animations will automatically play at the new and old speeds in the preview area. If necessary, you can stop the autoplay in the options. Here, you can also find an additional slow-down effect. The "Smooth Slow-down" mode updates GIF delays gradually, frame by frame. For example, if a GIF with five frames and a speed of 100ms is slowed down 3x, then you'll get an animation with the following frame delays: 100ms, 120ms, 150ms, 200ms, 300ms (if the "Smooth Slow-down" mode was off, then all delays would be 300ms). GIF's metadata about delays, frames, and playing duration can be found in the extra options block. Gifabulous!

In this example, a professional writer is typing his new book on an old typewriter so quickly that it is difficult to follow the words. To get a closer look at what he's writing, we slow down the speed of the GIF twice. The frames that were played back at 80ms are now played back at 160ms. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, our friend who's a skateboarder sent us a video clip of his coolest kickflip trick. We wanted to make his cool trick even cooler and we applied the smooth slow-down effect to it and made it 3 times slower. With the smooth slow-down effect option on, the frame delays increase gradually frame by frame, starting with the original frame delay of 50ms for the first frame and ending with the slowest frame delay of 150ms for the last frame (which is 3x slower than the first frame). In this example, we use our GIF slow-down program to closely examine a lightning strike over a city. In the real world, a bolt lasts only a fraction of a second and it's impossible to see the details. To observe it better, we slow down the GIF video clip to just 20% of the original speed. This makes the new GIF run for 10.6 seconds, which lets us see lightning's double-strike phenomena. (Source: Pexels.)
