This online utility lets you stop a looping GIF after a single playback. Once you upload your GIF, the tool automatically sets the loop count to one, so the animation runs once and then halts. You can preview the original and updated GIF directly in your browser and download the modified version with a single click. Created by GIF experts from team Browserling.

This is a browser-based program that converts multi-loop GIFs into single-loop GIFs. Most GIFs are set to loop endlessly by default, but this tool overrides that behavior and modifies the internal metadata field for the loop counter of the GIF file and sets it to 1. As a result, the animation plays once from start to finish and then stops completely. To watch it again, you'll need to manually reload the image. This can be done by reopening the GIF in an image viewer, refreshing the web page it's on, or dragging the file into a special tool that allows replaying GIFs. The program also provides a playback control option that lets you preview the animation. When this option is on, the input GIF will loop continuously, while the output version plays only once, making it easy to compare the difference. The options section also provides technical details about the input and output GIFs, such as the total number of frames, frame size, frame delay (or how long each frame is displayed), and the loop count. If you need to change the loop count of a GIF to a specific number of times (like 5 or 10), then you can use our Change GIF Loop Count tool. Gifabulous!

In this example, we upload a looping GIF of a storm cloud emitting lightning bolts and stop its endless cycle. The original animation has 36 frames and loops infinitely, but this tool modifies the GIF header (in particular, the Netscape Application Extension block) and sets the loop count field to 1, meaning the output GIF will play the stormy scene just once from start to finish and then freeze on the last frame instead of restarting. No frames, timing, or image data are altered, only the loop control metadata is adjusted. (Source: Pexels.)
This example plays a GIF where pineapples appear one by one in a row. The original input GIF is configured to loop ten times before stopping. Our program overrides this setting and forces the GIF to play only once. The result is a 7-frame animation that runs through a single row of pineapples and then stops. (Source: Pexels.)
This example shows a GIF from the game "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night", featuring Alucard's Sword Familiar attack. Normally, the original GIF loops forever, but we've made it to stop. Our program plays through all 36 frames and after reaching the final frame, the animation halts. (Source: Konami.)
